As you may have noticed my name is Alan Cameron and I am a singer/songwriter,
I was born in Bradford when I was very young, in fact my mother
left home before I was born! But seriously, I have been a performer
for thirty years, I taught myself to play the guitar simply because
I was housebound with arthritis and needed a hobby, when my condition
improved and I became mobile I joined a group as a guitarist, we
did'nt do too well but it got me started, I was in and out of groups
for a few years all the time gaining experience and confidence,
Sick and tired of groups falling out and splitting I decided to
go out on my own, now that's scarey! After doing the pubs and clubs
as a solo act performing oldies I started bringing more and more
country songs into my act, I'd always loved country music, I grew
up listening to people like Hank Williams, Jim Reeves and Johnny
Cash, finally I decided to go full country. It was then that I discovered
a talent for writing and began slipping my own songs into the act,
I'm pleased to say that they were well accepted and pretty soon
other artists were performing them, at one time there were hundreds
of act's singing "The crystal chandaliers (gets up my nose)" which
ended up on a couple of linedance albums and it is still one of
my most requested songs. Other favourites are the ballad "A single
red rose" "I'm a Yorkshireman" and more recently "The song of the
thong". In the last few years I have realised my dream of being
able to be myself, what you get these days is 100% Alan Cameron,
I sing all my own songs and thank the good Lord I seem to be getting
away with it! I have been a lot of places, met a lot of great people
and had a ball doing it, I would like to thank all the people who
have helped me along the way and all the people who have supported
me through the good times and the bad and are still there, I hope
you enjoy your visit to my site and will visit again, and don't
forget to tell your friends. "If the good Lord's willing and the
creek don't rise, I'll see you all again, somewhere, sometime"
